Junín and Manduriacu. The Intag cloud forest area is one of the most diverse and attractive of Ecuador. It is located on the external western slopes of the Andes, which rise abruptly from the coastal plain. The humidity that constantly ascends from those lowlands nurtures lush cloud forests with tall trees, exceptionally rich in epiphytes and mosses. The greatest diversity of orchids in the world occurs in the cloud forest of Ecuador, where many breathtaking varieties of all sizes and colours can be found. These two communities among others are preserving this richness in communitarian reserves, volunteers, birdwatchers and hikers are welcome. The community of Junin has accommodation in a community lodge. This region is under threat of mining prospection and your visit will support the community efforts to preserve the biodiversity
